About us
SAPPHIRE is built around four core pillars, known as PEARLs (Physics Education and Research Linkages). Each one plays a key role in transforming radiotherapy access across Africa.

🧊 Data Capture
We collect and analyse machine fault data using open-source tools to understand breakdown trends and improve reliability..
🧩 MLC Innovation
We study the multileaf collimator (MLC), a key LINAC component, and test improved designs to reduce downtime and improve performance.
🎓 Training & Capacity Building
We run workshops in Ghana and South Africa to train junior physicists in machine diagnostics, radiation simulations, and treatment planning.
🎯Treatment Planning Impact
We test new hardware designs using clinical data to ensure they meet today’s radiotherapy standards in real-world conditions.
